- Russia has a current population of 147 million inhabitants (approximately 110 of them in Europe and 37 in Asia).
- The countries of the list marked with an asterisk (*) are considered for geographical or political reasons «Eurasian countries» (states belonging to both Asia and Europe). All of them appear in the list ordered by their total population (and not by the number of inhabitants they have in their European region).
- Kosovo is not a sovereign country (currently its sovereignty is in dispute with Serbia). That is why it doesn’t appear in the list. In any case, for whom it migth be interested, it currently has a population of approximately 1.8 million inhabitants.
